On Thursday, 8/12, London Policy & Strategy Network hosted a joint event with the London Anchor Institutions Network (LAIN).

The session focused on how to unlock community benefit through anchor networks, based on a new report, Building Community Benefit through London’s Local Anchor Networks and ‘how to’ guide published as part of the London Anchor Institutions Network (LAIN) by a group of boroughs, anchors and London Councils, supported by Bloomberg Associates.

Jillian Kay, Strategic Director, Recovery at London Councils, identified some key takeaways :

  • The importance of engaging communities when laying the foundations of a local anchor network — and of inclusive approaches to defining what constitutes ‘anchors’ in a place
  • The power of sharing stories as a way of building and maintaining momentum — and the importance of valuing qualitative as well as quantitative data when measuring progress
  • An appetite for learning more through case studies and shared experience

You can read the report and case studies on the LAIN website (links below) to find out more. To get involved or share your experience, contact anchors@london.gov.uk
