What does the edge & centre mean for organisations?

One organisation’s “edge” is another network’s “connection”, or even centre of creativity, between scale-free networks (e.g., Facebook) and small-world networks (e.g., a neighbourhood) dependent on intimacy and proximity. We can see the power of networks from Jon Snow’s cholera map to Demos’ analysis of social media to Nicolas Christakis’s work on social networks.

What is the ‘edge’ of your organisation? It’s not just a boundary, but a potential source of innovation and creativity that can drive your organisation forward.

How can we harness the potential of the ‘edge’ in our organisations or communities to learn and grow? This question can inspire us to explore new ideas and approaches.

How can you take the practices from the ‘edge’ and bring them into the ‘centre’ of your organisation? This is a powerful way to empower your team and drive positive change.
