Actually, I wanted to be a priest, teacher, baker and farmer! Not all at the same time, at different periods of my chilhood.
What have all those professions got in common?
They listen to people’s concerns & gossip. They educate people about religion, history, season, weather and…baked goods. They want to be close to people, are identifiable & accountable, rather than being forced, temporary & subservient. They create symbolic acts, often associated with religion and food. They are seasonal from the mountains to the city.
What could you learn from what you wanted to be when you were young?
Looking at what these professions had in common, what could I take from those principles into my current life at work and at home?
- Bringing people together from different backgrounds through growing, making and eating food together?
- Using walking & discovering to help people discover how to understand & tackle local issues?
