Telling the story of change: how our Communications team keeps people at the heart
Over the past week, our small but mighty Communications team has been working across every mission to keep residents informed, engaged and part of the journey.
They’ve been creating clear, warm content about everything from Worthing Seafront 2050 to Food Waste Week, VE Day, and fireworks on the promenade. They’ve supported engagement on Homefield Park, Victoria Road, and Shadwells playground, and made sure residents can see the progress we’re making on big issues like second homes council tax and budget transparency.
They’re also preparing stories about the Museum’s new solar panels and a new textile recycling scheme — helping show how small actions link to big missions.
“Good comms doesn’t just inform — it invites people in.”
Behind the scenes, they’re responding fast to media queries, shaping digital content, and making devolution conversations accessible and collaborative.
Elsewhere, Barking & Dagenham’s BDTP storytelling model and Waltham Forest’s use of climate comms show how councils can make complex strategies feel human and hopeful.
Watch out for upcoming announcements on Union Place, Shoreham flood defences and a new Community Toilet Scheme — all part of helping people feel proud and clear about where they live.
