Sociocracy is the values of equality, freedom and self-determination put into practice as a form of governance and decision making practice. It draws on the use of consent, rather than majority voting, in discussion and decision-making by people who have a shared goal or work process and has the potential to produce organisations that are both collaborative and highly productive.
In this session, Helen Chicot will share learnings from using Sociocracy to democratise processes and support cooperative practice at Rochdale Borough Council. She will introduce the concept of Sociocracy is, how it works and how it’s been used in Rochdale, along with signposting to further information, support and training.
