Experimental Policy Design Methods Workshop policy design methods to tackle today’s complex challenges.
Policy Lab recently launched a set of 12 experimental method cards. These cards are designed to introduce public sector innovators to new concepts and initiate the sharing of new knowledge among practitioners nationally and internationally. Each card focuses on a specific experimental method, providing a detailed explanation and practical application examples.
We explored various methods relevant to today’s and tomorrow’s policymaking and how they could be integrated into policy development.
Policy Lab is eager to identify opportunities to partner with policy teams and experiment with some of these methods. We believe that by working together, we can better understand their potential and limitations, and ultimately, create more effective policies.
What is Policy Lab?
Policy Lab, founded in 2014, has a rich history of pushing the boundaries of policy design practice. Our mission has always been to improve policymaking through design, innovation, and people-centred approaches, and we continue to do so today.
Back then, applying design thinking to a policy challenge was a new and different way to frame, research, and solve policy problems. Today, officials have adopted these methods. User-centred design, service design, and systems thinking are now part of the latest Policy Professions Standards, guidelines and best practices for policy professionals, and teams across the civil service are pursuing these methods.
